How to set an exception in the Surfshark Antivirus

In this article we will cover how to set up an exception for an application in Surfshark's Antivirus. To begin, you first need a Surfshark One or Surfshark One+ subscription which you can purchase in our pricing page.
To set up an exception in the Surfshark Antivirus, choose your Operating System down below:

 

Windows

If a specific application is being flagged by your Surfshark Antivirus software, you may need to add an exclusion to allow it to run without interruption. Adding an exclusion can help resolve issues with blocked applications or files. To set up an exclusion list in the Surfshark Antivirus on your Windows device, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your Surfshark application.
  2. Click on the Antivirus tab.

  3. Select exclusions list.

  4. Click add files.

  5. Choose the app you want to exclude, and click open.

Once you've opened the application and added it to your exclusion list in the Surfshark Antivirus, restart your computer to apply the changes. After restarting your Windows device, your application should now be able to run without interruption.

 

macOS

Occasionally, your Surfshark Antivirus software may block certain items that are essential for your workflow. To resolve these issues, you can add an exclusion to your Surfshark Antivirus settings. This allows you to specify which items should be allowed to run on your Mac without triggering false positives. To set up an exclusion list in the Surfshark Antivirus on your macOS device, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your Surfshark application.
  2. Click on the Antivirus tab on the left.

  3. Select exclude from scanning.

  4. Click on choose items to exclude.

  5. Use your password or fingerprint reader to allow excluding items.

  6. Select the application you would like to exclude, and click open.

After opening the application and adding it to the exclusion list on your Surfshark Antivirus, restart your macOS device in order to apply the changes. After restarting your device, the item will not longer be blocked by the Surfshark Antivirus. 

 

Android

If a legitimate app or feature is being blocked by your Surfshark Antivirus software, adding an exclusion can help resolve the issue. This process allows you to specify which apps or files should be allowed to run on your device without interference . To set up an exclusion list in the Surfshark Antivirus on your Android device, follow the steps below:

  1. Open your Surfshark application.
  2. Tap on the products tab.

  4. Select open settings in pop-up window.

  5. Enable allow permission.

  6. Once back in the app, click excluded apps.

  7. Choose the apps you want to exclude by tapping the box next to them on the right side.

With the exclusion added to your Surfshark Antivirus software, restart your device to apply the changes. Once your device has been restarted you should be able to use your app or feature without interference.
